Congratulations to Mayfly Outdoors, who recently unveiled plans for their “Colorado Outdoors Recreation/Business Park”. Their plans include attracting outdoor-focused industries to the park, river restoration and creating high-end commercial, residential and industrial development. Mayfly Outdoors is expecting “Colorado Outdoors Recreation Park” to draw fly-fishing enthusiasts from all over the world. David Dragoo, President, anticipates that the project with take 10-15 years to develop. He cited that the project with be developed in 3 phases:
•Phase One: The project will start with Mayfly constructing a new, state-of-the-art 35,000-square-foot building for Abel and Ross on the acquired land with ground breaking in 2017 and Ross Reels and Abel Reels occupancy around 2018.
•Phase Two: Will be the strategic expansion of infrastructure within the development, including upgrading roads and expanding fiber optic while recruiting additional outdoor businesses.
•Phase Three: Includes a retail development with a river walk area featuring restaurants, coffee shops and other local enterprises.
MEDC has enjoyed the opportunity to work with Mayfly Outdoors since 2014 as they expanded their Ross Reels operation here in Montrose with the addition Abel Reels and Charlton Reels, all subsidiaries of Mayfly Outdoors. MEDC is very excited to continue our relationship as we partner with them to attract/expand outdoor industry to their “Colorado Outdoors Recreation Park”.
